To "think" about anything -- one must first form a thought (via the use of words or other symbols).

THEN ----- one must be able to "hold that thought" in order to examine it --

analyze it -- evaluate it -- and eventually do something with it.

THIS constitutes the process of THINKING

AND

contrary to Descartes who authored "Cogito Ergo Sum" -- ( sometimes translated "I think therefore I exist" ) --

a human being does NOT need to think in order to exist

( it just makes life more interesting ).
