NO !!!

WELL -----
you DID come here to get my "answer"
didn't you ??? (grin)
SO -- I guess I had
better get on with my "argument" about now.

ARGUMENT
"SOUND" is a "WORD" -- invented by Man -- to describe (in the English language) a "conscious recognition" of a
"semantic reaction" to a given stimulus --usually created by "vibrations" within a certain range of "wave lengths".
IF there is no "conscious recognition of that semantic reaction" ----- by "definition" there is no "sound".
Out there in the forest, the falling tree DID create "vibrations" --
through the air AND through the ground --
which may have startled creatures
great and small.
However, as these creatures do NOT have
"semantic reactions" --
with associative words -- they, also, heard no
SOUND
!!!
(remember ----- "sound
is merely a symbol)
In the realm of Environmental Logic it is critical to recognize
the difference between a "symbol" and "reality".
ALWAYS two quite different things -----
that need a second look??
(BIG GRIN)

NOW ----- let's get a bit "tricky".
IF you had a "live" transmitter set up at the location where the tree
fell --
and you were on the other end of the line (100 ?? miles
away) --
--- would that falling tree have created any "sound"???
OR --
IF the person in the forest were DEAF -- would that falling tree have created any "sound" ????

Special Notes
The "looking-glass" -- mentioned in the "Prologue" -- refers to this "system of reasoning" called
Environmental Logic (a.k.a. EL)
(which is a subject unto itself for those who Dare To Think).
Note for the "purists":
EL is a blend of the A and the Null-A logic systems -----
created (circa 1969) -- by A David -- as a "teaching-learning" tool
for use in helping children understand how beautifully simple the complex
can be --- and how beautifully complex the simple can be ----- without confusion.
IF you would like a "hint" as to how Environmental Logic works in real life -- a starting
place might be to take a long look in the Wikipedia Encyclopedia under "general semantics";
(or, you could continue on with your explorations of AHLEC's Journey and actually watch EL at work).
OR
test another "tool"
regarding "invisible implications"
